Resilience, in the context of sustainability, refers to the capacity of communities, systems, and individuals to adapt to and recover from the impacts of climate change, including extreme weather events and other environmental challenges.
Despite Bloomington's efforts to reach its climate goals, existing global warming will inevitably lead to changes that affect the City. Recognizing this, local resilience planning becomes crucial. Bloomington undertook a significant step by completing a Climate Vulnerability Assessment in 2020, identifying key areas of concern and strategies for adaptation. This assessment helps the city understand how to best prepare for and mitigate the impacts of climate change.
