
As part of Bloomington’s goal to reduce the amount of solid waste going into the landfill, the City is committed to encouraging recycling throughout the community. This includes recycling by both citizens and businesses alike and is supported by robust outreach and public awareness efforts by Bloomington staff.
Note that, similar to the City’s goals around composting, increasing the rate of recycling is part of the CIty’s Climate Action Plan (CAP). It is specifically listed under Strategy WM 1-B.
Goal WM 1. Increase landfill solid waste diversion by 30% of 2018 values (26,500 tons of waste reduction).
