One of the City’s strategies in its Climate Action Plan (Strategy TL 1-A) is to reduce single-occupancy automobile usage by 8% of 2018 values. This means reducing the number of Bloomington residents that travel by car.
A promising form of alternative transport is “micro-mobility,” or transportation through smaller, more sustainable vehicles such as electric scooters and bicycles (sometimes called “e-bikes”).
To promote micro-mobility, the City of Bloomington has launched an e-bike voucher program as well as provided guidelines to promote safer and more reliable transit via scooters. The City is committed to continuing to invest—financially and operationally—in the success of micro-mobility as a means of reducing traditional car usage.
Goal TL 1. Decrease on-road vehicle miles traveled (VMT) by 8% of 2018 values.
